- 4.1 Any individual or organisation (formal or informal) is eligible to become a member if:
- 4.1.1 they agree to accept the aforementioned objectives and
- 4.1.2 pay the required annual membership fee, and
- 4.1.3 are not employed in a paid capacity by Nican.
- 4.2 In the case of an organisation, membership will entitle the organisation to one vote in Ballots for Board membership and one vote in any matters to be resolved at a general meeting. A representative of the organisation will be entitled to cast a vote on behalf of the organisation and may be required, if requested by Public Officer, to provide evidence that they are entitled to vote on behalf of the member organisation.
- 4.3 The annual membership fee is payable on or in advance of 1 July each year, for that financial year.
- 4.4 Membership fees received after 31 August in any year will take effect from the close of the Annual General Meeting of that year and shall be valid until the end of the next full financial year.
- 4.5 The membership fee shall be determined annually by the Board.
- 4.6 The members shall not be liable towards the payment of any debts and liabilities of the Association or the costs, charges and expenses of winding up the Association.
- 4.7 A person or organisation ceases to be a member of the Association if they –
- 4.7.1 Submit a resignation in an appropriate format forwarded to the Secretary, or
- 4.7.2 Do not renew their membership within two months of expiry.
- 4.7.3 Die, or in the case of an organisation, cease to operate.
- 4.7.4 Their membership is revoked by the Board or a sub-committee of the Board due to breaching the agreed terms of membership.
- 4.8 Membership rights, privileges or obligations are not transferable.
